I've been away for a little while. I just get down hearted when I try so hard and nothing comes of it. I'm not giving up though. This weather has been keeping me down too. I pretty much go straight to bed right after my daughter. I hope this weather will start to get better starting next week so I can get back into the swing of things.

Book Page Flower Tutorial!

So I've decided to show my process for making the flowers for my book page flower wreaths... Hope I can explain it and that you guys enjoy!

MATERIALS:
Book Pages
Scissors
Hot Glue

First I cut a stack of book pages into a circular shape. These are a smaller circle for my filler flowers that I put near the center and in spots the bigger ones just wont look right or fit.

Here I am starting my cut. I cut straight to the center just a little bit the start going around the diameter of the circle just enough to make the flower.

After one complete go around I cut off the edge where I went straight at the beginning so that it stays circular.

I then continue cutting around the diameter of the paper circle going in slightly as I go. Making a bulls eye shape.

After completing the cutting process you will have a stack of spiral circle book pages.

Pick up one of the pages from the center. If you try getting it from the end it will get tangle with all the others pretty much every time.

Start from the end and start making a rolling motion to the right, It will start looking like the photo below.

When you are finished you will get a paper flower that looks like this on the bottom. The center will end up being the base of the flower. I put just a dab of hot glue on what you see in the photo below.

I then place the glued end onto the base/center of the flower to secure the flower shape.

Don't worry if there are longer pieces, You can grab your trusty scissors and cut to the shape you want. Below is the finished product along with a few other finished flowers.

I hope you like, enjoy, and share this post with your friends. If it came in handy and if you would like to see other tutorials of any items in my etsy shop please comment and let me know. Thanks again for viewing!

New wreath

This is the start of a new book page flower wreath. I love making these but Omg my left wrist is killing me.
I'm going to be posting a step by step with photos of how one of these flowers is made.

So I found this little gem while looking through a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Novel. I'm making the Cabochon Style Necklaces and thought this would be perfect for any Buffy fan still out there! I know I am.

Had a pretty busy morning today! My 2 year old has been wanting me to clean out her ears all the time for the past few days... She said her right year was bothering her but then said she was fine... But this morning she said she wanted to go to the dr so I took her... Turns out she has a slight ear infection after all... So we got meds to take care of that.

While at walmart we did a little shopping and she got her some new play-doh! YAY haha.

We finally made it home and she napped and I worked on my next book page flower wreath. Can't wait to be finished with the flowers and start gluing them onto my wreath.

I wanna fix a letter to this one and post it on my etsy and start doing custom wreaths. So stay tuned for that.

Well this is my first blog... Not sure how this works or what I should really talk about...

So let me start my talking about me. Hi I'm Heather!
I started MSU college in 2004 and by 2008 I earned my BA in Art and then went back in 2010 for my BA in Business. I have a wonderful husband and a great lil girl who will soon be 3. She was born 3 months early and stayed in the hospital for 3 months following her birth. So that put me on hold for awhile in the art department.

Recently I was getting really down and snapping at nothing and figured out I needed my art back. So starting out the year of 2016 I started creating again! It has helped me tremendously, hence the name WistfullySane!!

I love up cycling books no one wants anymore. If no one wants to read them they still have a purpose. I don't want to get to much into it, I'll save it for future blogs!

I also hand make jewelry. Earrings and Necklace's mainly. They are mostly fairytale and spooky things. I'm into that stuff. haha.

If you visit my etsy shop you can check out everything I do. I post stuff at least once a week to just keep current. I hope you enjoy what you see!
